Turnabout Programme Workshop
Turnabout Education provide practical ‘hands-on’ training for teachers and learning support assistants.  Training is usually  on-site at the school and is a full day for the staff being trained.
This can be  an ‘Inset’ training day for all of the staff including teachers, teaching assistants and school management.
Alternatively, only those staff who will be directly involved in delivering the programme are trained. In this case, usually the SENCo and learning support assistants are trained together. With this arrangement we recommend  an appreciation course for other staff and/or for the senior management team,. This is  often done as a ‘twilight’ session.
Turnabout on-site training is primarily involves a ‘hands-on’ workshop in which staff learn and practice how to deliver the programme. The workshop is carried out in groups no larger than eight staff and the number of trainers supplied will depend on the number of staff being trained.
Course synopsis
The Turnabout Programme is for pupils with dyslexia and associated learning difficulties. It facilitates learning and underpins the delivery of phonics by strengthening both memory and the underlying auditory and visual capabilities of the child.  The training course is primarily a hands-on workshop in which the attendees are  trained to deliver the programme. In addition, it includes an explanation of the underlying theory, guidance on the recognition of dyslexia in the classroom and an explanation of the pupil assessment procedures . Trainees are advised on how to adapt the programme to the individual needs of their pupils. They are given guidance on the recommended procedures for enhancing pupil self-esteem.
Follow-up monitoring
As a follow-up to the training and as a quality control procedure, Turnabout Education carry out a monitoring visit to the school, usually six to eight weeks  after the training, to ensure that the Turnabout procedures are being carried out correctly and effectively, to answer any questions raised  and to discuss individual  pupils if required.
Training the school
Our Turnabout day was a wonderful success and the benefits for our children are immense! The best remediation programme we have ever used.
Maths has improved a lot. Doubling and decimal points are easier.
Turnabout is fun and it really does help you remember stuff you couldn’t remember before. I now remember to remind Mum to do things – before I used to forget. I’m more confident. I have found out that I can do things and I’m more confident than before to   do things. Turnabout makes you quicker  with maths and quicker with writing.
Used to forget instructions – which group – where to sit - now I remember. Just got the top score in the group in the maths table test – used to get same as others or lower. Used to fidget , now I sit still.
